I <3 Me

Most people do not like the body they are in. It’s amazing to learn that fact because we are stuck with what we are given. But there’s the point. No matter what we do or how we change, we are still in the same body.

Make a list of the things you like about your body. Now make a contrasting list stating the things you dislike about your body. It’s easier to list things that we don’t like.Isn’t it? Trust me when I say my negative list was long also. So, in the spirit of staying positive,  let’s make a rule that reduces the negative items. Let’s say that for every two positive items we can only have one negative item. If we only have one positive then we should have zero negatives. Two or three positives equals one negative. The positive list has no limitations. By following these rules we should end up with a list that contains twice as much positive items as negatives.

Personality can change how someone looks. Perception is the biggest contributor to how we appear to others. Someone who always looks down on others always seems to appear less attractive than someone who shows appreciation for others. We do live in a superficial society that is quick to judge.  That’s why it’s important for us to  learn to love who we are. There are aspects that have been given to us that cannot be changed. They should not become a stumbling block for us. We should learn to adapt and overcome. Life is not perfect but it is beautiful; and so are we.

I recently read an article, different topic, but there was a sentence that relates here, “Just as plants and animals have an ecology in a forest”….relating there to the usage of words, change in words we use as descriptions, emotions, attributes. I would like to use this line here. Just as plants and animals have an ecology in a forest, so too we have words and thoughts that change relating to ourselves. Some we use because we label ourselves in ways that reflect what others have said about us, we agree with them, we are influenced by these thoughts and so they become a part of our image. Some we are given early on in life and they are our thoughts even today. Some we don’t think about, we just assume, and others are deep within us and nary to change. What are these thoughts… you have asked us to think about in your written thoughts today? Reach into yourself and notice them, for they lead ones way about how we feel, how we think, how we reflect upon ourselves and probably how we present to others. I like your thoughts, Steven. I think they point out to the reader that this is very important to consider. Yes, there is an ecology in us, too. That part is nice, it is flow and it is that we live in a world that grows, that brings itself to us and we learn from it and bring ourselves to others.
