19 years ago I woke up and got ready to get married. I had no idea what to expect. I had just flown in from A-school (USN). And was about to give my life to one beautiful bride. The small town square was decorated for Christmas. This corresponded well with the wedding decorations. It looked as though our small town was decorated for our wedding. Needless to say it was remarkable.
One would think that after 19 years that I would be able to give great marriage advice. Truth is, each marriage is as unique as individual people. There is no one size fits all. However, there are some pointers that can be given.
-If you find yourself in an argument, remember that both of you can be in the right. Take the time to learn how the other person views a topic. An apple can be red, yellow, or green.
-Never yell. If you cannot talk in a normal voice, excuse yourself and cool off. Be sure to thank your partner for allowing you to cool down. Never chase after a partner that is trying to cool off.
-Say “I love you”. I say this at least 10 times a day. There is something about hearing those words that brings a smile to one’s face.
I married my best friend. I have had some of the best days of my life with this woman. Here’s to 19 more.
Happy anniversary love 🙂
