Life through a Child’s eyes

It’s back to reality for me. I took a week off from the normal humanity, and enjoyed life. My wife and I flew out to California to meet up with friends that were getting married. It was nice to shut society out and just enjoy life. I met a lot of new people and seen friends I hadn’t seen in over 15 years. I also took this opportunity to grow and learn. I love being spiritual. Religion has always been a big part of my life. It is through my religion that I have learnt to be more at peace. I still have my moments of anger and “OMG WHY IS THIS HAPPENING!”. Nonetheless, I get over it and move on.

The wedding that we attended was my first Bride & Wife wedding. It was also my first beach wedding, and absolutely b-e-a-utiful. There was a cool breeze, slight overcast, and the ocean view was paint worthy. As we sat there listening to the procession, a flock of birds landed in the bay, then some more joined in, followed by a lot more. The whole gaggle of birds gathered behind the bride and wife in the bay at a distance. It was rather humorous to watch these birds invite themselves to the ceremony. As I sat there, I went over verses. First Matthew 7:1 came to mind. How different would my mindset be if I had sat there with a judge-mental mindset? Would I have overlooked the simple fact that my friend had found love and want to share that moment with a select group? How much of life’s pleasures are missed all because we have a high and mighty attitude? We are all human. No one is better than the next. The second verse that came to mind was 1st John 4:7-8. My main attention turned to verse 8. We are to love one another. A person who does not love does not know Elohim, for Elohim is love. I have only one thing to do; love. This isn’t always easy. People and their ignorance and their lack of humility really get under my skin, but I’m learning. As for my friend, I could see how I could “justify” having a bitter attitude. However, this would be against the teachings. Life is too short to spend hating, and never long enough to spend loving. The last verse that came to mind was Matthew 18:3. Unless we become as a child, we will not enter the reigns of the heavens. This one really hit home for me. Children are the least judge-mental. At what point did we start judging and comparing each other? Did this start in school? Were we taught that some people fit the “norm” while others didn’t? Then it clicked. Setting there watching my friend, I began to fully understand how these verses fit together. Have you ever known something, but then suddenly comprehended that knowledge? Knowing and comprehending is like looking and seeing. Just because we look doesn’t mean that we will see. Just because we listen doesn’t mean that we will hear. Just because we know doesn’t mean that we will comprehend. Life works in that way. One minute I’m setting there watching life, then the light bulb comes on and suddenly I understand a whole new level to what I already knew.

I’ve been applying this comprehension to a lot of things lately, especially the news. Here in the States, media loves to throw in their opinions. Opinions aren’t news. They’re opinions. Sadly, this is happening around the world as well. I like to read the Chinese news, British news, and Australian news. Like the media in the States, I have to sort out opinions from the facts. This is how I get a better look at what is going on in the world. This is how I see that although we come from all walks of life, we are all still only humans. Different languages speaking from the same heart. We shouldn’t bother looking for the meaning of life, but rather the meaning of love; for they are one and the same.
