Honor is the foundation to a persons moral standings. A ship with it’s hull breech lacks integrity. The same can be said about a person with no honor. A person with honor is known to be trusted. Their word will hold up. They are human and they will make mistakes, but they will take responsibility for their mistakes and move forward. A person with honor lives up to the moral standards that they preach about. It is not enough for them to state the basic standards that each of us should live up to. No, they personify these standards. Without honor a person loses respect from others.
Courage is ability to face adversity in the midst of fear. Without it we are nothing more than cowards. A person with courage is able to stand up against the crowd and admit they made a mistake. They have the ability to move forward when they are stricken with fear. Courage is not confidence, but courage does build confidence. Courage is not easy. In fact, many people lack courage today. They lay blame on others, and make excuses as to why deadlines weren’t met. They do not have the backbone to let their yes’s be yes, and their no’s be no.
Commitment is a solid agreement to see something through to the end. It is a state of being dedicated to a cause or person. Commitment limits our freedom for the sake of achieving our goals. It’s not always easy to stay committed. Not everyone has it. A person has to have their heart into it. All to often we are not willing to go that distance. We can look at the divorce rate if we question these allegations. Commitment is not for the faint of heart. It takes perseverance.
A person who maintains all three of these characteristics can do any. People will know that this type of person may not be perfect, but they are worth their weight in gold. Apply these attributes to your life and you will find that others will come to respect you. You will see a true look of appreciation when they say “Thank you.” A person with these attributes is not to be take for granted, although many will. Those that do take them for granted are worth limiting time with. I have found that people around me have taken on such traits. We have grown together and developed into better people. I have more integrity, pride, and independence. I do for myself, but I also help others along the way. We are in the journey of life together. We need quality people not a quantity of people.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and may we always improve ourselves while remaining true to our morals.
